Systems Integration Engineer

Lincoln, NE

Posted: 12/17/2025 Industry: Manufacturing & Operations Job Number: 3505816

Job Description

If you’re a robotics or mechatronics engineer who likes getting your hands dirty — wiring, tuning, debugging, rebuilding, and making systems actually move the way they’re supposed to — this role is for you. This position sits at the center of hardware, controls, and embedded software, with ownership over bringing complex electromechanical systems from assembled parts to fully functioning, repeatable platforms. You’ll spend most of your time in the lab making things work, figuring out why they don’t, and pushing designs forward in real time.

We are looking for a Systems Integration Engineer with a strong robotics or mechatronics background to integrate motors, sensors, embedded electronics, and software into a cohesive system. This role is highly hands-on and suited for someone who enjoys system bring-up, motion control, and troubleshooting across disciplines.

What you’ll work on

  • Integrating motors, sensors, actuators, and embedded controllers into functional electromechanical systems
  • Implementing and validating custom motor control and motion systems, including tuning, system identification, testing, and optimization
  • Supporting system performance, motion behavior, and reliability through hands-on testing and iteration
  • Debugging system-level issues and determining whether root causes live in hardware, software, or mechanical design
  • Providing real-time design feedback to mechanical, electrical, and embedded software engineers
  • Developing and executing integration, verification, and performance testing
  • Creating clear engineering documentation including test plans, results, and integration notes

What we’re looking for

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related engineering field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience building and integrating complex electromechanical or robotic systems
  • Strong background in motion control, system dynamics, and feedback control
  • Experience programming embedded systems in C or C++ and debugging at the system level
  • Comfort working with motors, motor drivers, sensors, microcontrollers, and real hardware in a lab environment
  • Ability to move fluidly between mechanical, electrical, and software perspectives when solving problems

This is an onsite role based in Lincoln, Nebraska, with daily hands-on lab work. Relocation assistance may be provided for candidates who need to move to the area. Occasional travel may be required.
