Senior Buyer – Manufacturing

Orlando, FL

Posted: 02/05/2026 Industry: Manufacturing & Operations Job Number: 3534954

Job Description

If you’re a manufacturing buyer who enjoys owning the full purchasing cycle and being close to the product and the people who build it, this role offers a rare mix of tactical execution and supplier ownership. You’ll be part of a lean team where your judgment matters and where you’re not boxed into a narrow, siloed function.

This is an on-site, daily role in Orlando, Florida. It’s a strong fit for someone who prefers a hands-on environment, clear accountability, and long-term stability, with the opportunity to influence cost, inventory discipline, and supplier performance through direct action.

The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring raw materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations. This individual will manage purchasing activity from requisition through delivery while also applying judgment around pricing, supplier selection, and cost drivers. The role plays a meaningful part in maintaining supply continuity, controlling inventory, and supporting cost-reduction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute operational purchasing activities to support production schedules and revenue plans

• Create, release, and manage purchase orders within an MRP-driven environment

• Communicate directly with suppliers to confirm lead times, manage deliveries, and resolve shortages

• Monitor material availability to prevent line-down situations while avoiding excess or obsolete inventory

• Apply should-cost judgment to evaluate supplier pricing and identify outliers

• Lead or support supplier negotiations, re-quoting efforts, and cost-reduction initiatives

• Manage frequent part revisions and engineering changes in coordination with internal teams

• Track supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and responsiveness

• Support inventory reduction and working capital initiatives

• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, planning, engineering, quality, and other internal stakeholders

• Travel to supplier sites as needed to better understand manufacturing processes and cost drivers (typically limited and well under 25%)

Required Experience and Skills

• Proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer in a manufacturing environment

• Demonstrated ability to handle both operational buying and supplier negotiation responsibilities

• Strong understanding of what manufactured parts should reasonably cost based on materials, labor, and process

• Experience managing suppliers and resolving delivery, pricing, or quality issues

• Comfort operating in a lean organization with limited headcount and minimal functional silos

• Ability to manage a high volume of purchasing activity with accuracy and urgency

• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, including less automated or legacy platforms

• Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment

• Clear, direct communication skills with both suppliers and internal stakeholders

• Reliable, consistent work ethic and strong sense of ownership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device experience is nice to have)

• Exposure to both tactical purchasing and more strategic or commodity-focused procurement

• Supplier site visit or audit experience

• Experience supporting cost-reduction or inventory optimization initiatives

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Location

This is a full-time, on-site position within a manufacturing facility. Remote or hybrid work is not supported for this role.
