Job Description

Location: Seward, Nebraska

Compensation: $85,000 – $135,000 + bonus

Build Something From the Ground Up — Not Just Maintain It

Our client, a growing organization in the agriculture sector, is launching a brand-new facility in the Seward, Nebraska area and is hiring a Financial Controller to help build the accounting function from the ground up.

This is a newly created role tied directly to expansion—not a backfill.

If you’ve ever wanted the opportunity to step into a role where you can create structure, influence systems, and truly own the outcome, this is that opportunity.

Even more compelling—you’ll be brought in before operations fully ramp, giving you the rare chance to get ahead of the business, understand how everything works, and help shape it the right way from the beginning.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This role offers something most Controller positions don’t:

  • ?️ A true “build” opportunity – You won’t inherit broken processes… you’ll help create them the right way
  • ⏱️ Time to get ahead of the business – Join before things get busy, not after
  • ? Growth tied to the operation – As the facility scales, so does your impact and scope
  • ? High visibility – Work directly with executive leadership and play a key role in the business
  • ? Real ownership – You’ll be the go-to person for all things accounting at this site

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Owning all accounting operations for the facility
  • Ensuring accuracy across financial reporting (P&L, balance sheet, general ledger)
  • Developing and implementing internal controls and processes
  • Leading month-end close and reconciliation processes
  • Supporting audit activities and ensuring financial integrity
  • Overseeing a small team (AP, payroll/HR, administrative support)
  • Serving as the internal expert on financial systems and ERP processes
  • Partnering with leadership to provide clear, reliable financial visibility

Who This Role Is Ideal For

  • A Controller who wants more ownership and the ability to make an impact
  • A Senior Accountant ready to step into a leadership role
  • Someone who enjoys building, improving, and taking initiative
  • A professional who thrives in a growing, evolving environment

What They’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
  • ~4+ years of accounting or finance experience (flexible for strong candidates)
  • Strong attention to detail and accountability
  • Experience working with ERP systems (implementation experience is a plus)
  • Exposure to manufacturing, operational, or cost accounting environments preferred
  • Leadership experience—or the ability and desire to grow into it

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $85,000 – $135,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Annual bonus structure
  • 100% employer-paid family health insurance
  • Dental and vision options (low-cost)
  • PTO flexibility based on experience
  • Relocation assistance available

Timing & Ramp-Up

  • Target start: Summer through early Fall
  • Opportunity to join early and help shape the operation before full ramp-up

The Bottom Line

This isn’t a role where you’re stepping into someone else’s structure.

It’s a role where you’ll help build it, own it, and grow with it.

If that’s the kind of opportunity you’ve been looking for, it’s worth a conversation.

Meet Your Recruiter

Kinga Wilson
Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

After moving to the U.S. from England and beginning her career in the IT industry, Kinga saw a problem that needed to be fixed.

There was a disconnect between job seekers and employers, leading to a frustrating recruiting process and, worse, poor hires.

So in 1998, Kinga started her own search firm—Leaders IT Recruitment in Lincoln, Nebraska— to bridge the gap, and she hasn’t looked back since. The firm has grown organically through satisfied clients’ word-of-mouth referrals and blossomed into Insight Recruitment which, 20 years later, has worked with job candidates and businesses across the country by setting the bar for what a recruitment agency should be.

“We get our clients’ attention by giving them the clarity they need to make better decisions for themselves,” Kinga says. “We’ve helped candidates secure truly life-changing jobs, and we’ve made a massive impact on companies needing the right mix of people to ensure their success continues.”

Kinga sees the right qualities in applicants and the bottom line for businesses. She makes sure her small-but-mighty team keeps its eye on one thing above all else: follow through.

“Our tools, strategies and focus have evolved like any growing business, but our core values have not,” Kinga says. “We focus on quality, high-touch service from the start, and our passion shows. I’ve been lucky enough to hire people who align with Insight’s philosophy on service.”

It’s that partnership attitude that differentiates Insight from the crowd.
